ToonSuits costumes are
designed with your safety in mind, but certain precautions should be
taken so you enjoy your costuming adventures with a minimum of problems.
- All costumes, especially ones made of faux fur,
can be very hot and overheating can result if worn for long
periods. While performing, make sure you take plenty of
breaks, and drink lots of water. Some performers (including
ours) wear cooling
equipment under their suits.
- Be very careful around water, as your costume
will be very heavy if it is wet. Do not attempt swimming while
wearing your costume.
- Avoid open flame while wearing your
costume. Synthetic fur tends to melt when exposed to flame,
and melted fur can cause severe burns.
- While wearing your character head, vision is
limited and hearing is muffled, so take care when crossing the
street or in other situations where vision and hearing are required.
- ToonSuit gloves are quite mobile, and allow
your character to do many things, such as shaking hands, waving,
opening doors, pushing elevator buttons, etc. But unlike human
hands, they have only 4-fingers, and the faux fur is slippery and
has less gripping power.
- Avoid handling sharp objects while wearing your
gloves or character head.
- Do not attempt driving, operating machinery, or
using power tools while wearing your costume.
- ToonSuits should not be worn by young children.
- When using your costume, try to have a
non-costumed chaperone or "handler" with you. This
person can answer questions on your behalf and can be your
character's eyes and ears so you can avoid any problems.
